The employees received a salary of $4 per week. The first machine in the photo was used to type set an English paper called the Northwest Review and the Labour News; the second machine was operated by Mr. George-Henre Berube who typeset the paper La Liberte and other French manuals; the third machine was used to print the German newspaper Western Canada; and the fourth machine was used to print a Polish paper. Standing at the right is Brother Charles Sylvestre, Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate, a machinist. Between machines 2 and 3 is the foreman, Maurice Dumousseau, who was later with the Free Press. At the back to the right is Mr. George McNally, A. LaLonde, and Edmon LeMay (second from the right). The Canadian Publishers building was formerly the property of the Oblate Fathers and the Company Publisher the Liberta. |

Stewart And Harry Shipley With Their Father William Shipley (Slouch Hat And Mustache) Near The Front Of The Engine Can Be Seen . Roy Coventry (In The Centre Of The Photo) On The Separator Is Holding An Oil Can. Harry Coventry (On The Right) Holding A Horse (Team).
